The Centenary Youth Orchestra Chamber Music Program

June 2-5, 2026

Registrations are open!

The summer program is open to all instrumentalists of all ages who are able to READ music. Students will learn to perform in small instrument groups. Students enrolled are assigned to a group/coach and given pieces to practice BEFORE classes begins. Groups are determined by age, grade and level of musical skill

Students enrolled must choose ALL times that they can participate in the application. If there are schedule conflicts during certain times of the day, we will do our best to accommodate these. Students may suggest musicians to play in their group. We will do our best to see if that can be arranged.

The program schedule includes orchestra and a daily music theory class. The theory class is intended to both expose & further develop knowledge and understanding of music rudiments: notation, key signatures, rhythm, intervals, chords, harmony, forms, etc.

The groups daily coaching sessions, the orchestra rehearsal, and the daily Music Theory Class will be 50 minutes long. The daily all-camp meeting session will 30 minutes, from 12:15-12:45 pm Tuesday to Friday, during lunch time and it will activities such as Faculty and student performances, program picture, Music Theory Olympic and Trivia Question Jeopardy. Student groups may also have an informal opportunity to perform during this time.

There are daily snack breaks. For lunches, you can bring your own lunch, or purchase meal plans from the cafeteria.

The summer chamber program culminates with a formal recital performance. This will be live-streamed. There will be pizza and soda for all students and their coaches at NOON before the performance. There may be a reception following the recital

It is suggested that if there happens to be any extended wait between classes or coachings, that students bring books to read or quiet activities to do.
